International Humanitarian Law

Croatian Red Cross has a mandate to promote IHL and humanitarian principles in Croatia according to national laws and International Humanitarian Law. As a state party to the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols Croatia has responsibility to fulfil the undertaken obligations.

Croatian Red Cross carries out public activities it is authorized to perform by the Act on the Croatian Red Cross. Under the CRC Act, Croatian Red Cross is authorized: to carry out obligations of the Republic of Croatia arising from the Geneva Conventions relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, in the part of the international activities entrusted to the Croatian Red Cross; to advocate and promote ideas and principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as international humanitarian law; to foster protection of all victims and protection of human rights.

Croatian Red Cross promotes and advocates the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and fulfils the assigned obligations.
